The computer science point of Northwest University has been built since the late 1950s, which is one of the earliest computer science points in China. Master of Computer Software was established in 1982 and Doctor of Computer Software and Theory was approved in 1996. In 2011, the discipline of computer science and technology was authorized as a first-level doctorate.
